Naples Underground in the Evening
Take a tour 136 steps (approximately 40 meters) below the busy and lively streets of the historic center of Naples. Here you will find a different world, unexplored, isolated by time, but deeply connected with the world above. It's the heart of Naples, the place where the city was born. The 'Napoli Sotteranea (Naples Underground) is an important link to the city's ancient past of over 2,400 years ago. The underground captures a dynamic past: the foundations of the Greek city of Neapolis, the remains of a Roman theater (where the emperor Nero had his private dressing room when he performed in Naples), Roman aqueducts, and WWII bomb shelters.
