Naples Street Food

In Naples “street food” is king.  In the narrow streets of the old town, there are many stalls and shops selling every kind of food.  On this Tickets & Travel tour, walk with Aldo, our wonderful tour guide, into the heart of the city and visit some of the oldest and best places to eat. It was in Naples where pizza was born, the Italian food most known in the world. You will visit one of the oldest pizzerias & pasterias and get a chance to try very special traditional "to go" foods beloved by the Neapolitan.  In Naples you can easily find pasta omelette and many different pizzas such as the wraparound version: a smaller pizza that folds into four and is wrapped in paper, or the Parisian pizza stuffed with tomato, mozzarella and ham.  Another classic of the Neapolitan street food is the Cuoppo, a fried mix of croquettes, pumpkin flowers in batter, mozzarella, eggplant and zucchine.  There is the mozzarella in carrozza (carriage), which consists of mozzarella slices wrapped in two slices of bread, dipped in egg and milk and then fried. The Neapolitan Tarallo (salty bagel), made with lard and pepper, is sold warm.  Even the casatiello, a dense pie containing eggs, lard, and ham, before only prepared at home for the Easter holidays, is now a dish of Neapolitan street food.  This tour is a “must do” for anyone who loves food and history!
