Cardboard Boat Regatta
Begins at 1 PM
Carney Park Pool
$5 per team. Register by July 1.
Attention on deck! It's time to choose your crew to build the best, most creative and — most importantly — seaworthy vessel.
The regatta features a pre-race “Parade of Boats” that showcases each team's creativity and theme. Then, the races begin. A member of each crew will board the vessel and self-propel to the other side of the pool. The two categories of races are Family and Command/Unit.
Teams supply their own cardboard and duct tape to construct a boat before race day. Crew members must transport the boat to the pool. Boats will be inspected on site for compliance to rules. Click here for the construction rules and criteria.
Age groups:
- 7 years and younger (with one adult)
- 8-10 years old
- 11-13 years old
- 14-17 years old
- 18 years and older
Prizes awarded in each age group for:
- Best construction/engineering
- Best creative theme
- Fastest race time in each category
Ultimately, it's a celebration of community, teamwork and good-humored failure, proving that anything can float — at least for a little while.
